Biography

Marius van Zandwijk lives and works in Amsterdam NL. His works are best described as paintings of inconvenient places. He explores how his experiences of (social - cultural) inconvenience at places relate to more collective stories. Recently, the dynamics of the intertwining of nature and culture emerged as major theme from this research.

In his works questions about remembrance are implied. Like reality, most works contain multiple narratives. Often narratives are juxtaposed in his works. For example: can we be in control of something uncontrollable?
